Compliance Update

Last year, the U.S. Copyright Office made it easier for owners of interactive websites to limit their liability through a $6 online method of getting the “safe harbor” benefits of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”).  This remains an essential protection for those who allow user generated content (e.g. photos and reviews) on their websites.  NOTE:  Those who registered an agent prior to Dec. 1, 2016, and have not yet re-registered, must re-activate new accounts. Although we have spoken with clients who had been registered through the old system and re-registered through the new, if you think you still might need to register or re-register, or if you wish to discuss copyright risks in general, please email Suzann at suzann@themoskowitzfirm.com. Visit the DMCA online registry for more information.
