If your goods are sold on online, you should know about Amazon’s newly expanded Brand Registry Program. Owners of *registered* trademarks which include some text component are eligible for the program, which assigns the “true” owner (rather than any reseller) an alphanumeric Global Product Identifier (GCID) — even if the goods are currently sold without a UPC identifier. Besides a greater sense of control over the description of the goods, users of the Brand Registry Program should have an easier time enforcing against IP infringement or counterfeiting. If you have questions about registering appropriate variations of your existing brands with the USPTO, using Amazon’s registry program or including The Moskowitz Firm as a representative for verification, please contact us.
